10 Travel Essentials Every Travelista Needs Before Takeoff

Hey Travelistas!

My name is Tiffany C, but you can call me the Curvy Travelista! If you haven’t guessed yet, I love to travel. Whether a quick roadtrip or an international flight, I’m always on the move. Here are a few travel essentials that every Travelista should have before she takes off for her next adventure:

1.     Luggage scale. If you’re like me, you have tendency to over pack! Yes, I want to be cute, but sometime the airport scale doesn’t agree with me. To save me a little time and embarrassment, I invested in a luggage scale. I lucked up and purchased my scale from Aldi’s, but they are also available on Amazon.

2.     Stylish backpack. I discovered the wonderful world of travel backpacks a few years ago and I haven’t looked back since. Why pay the additional baggage fees if you can get away with a carry on and a personal item! I love my gray and black polka Jansport backpack, especially because it comes with a laptop compartment and sleeve. Check out all the stylish options on their website!

3.     Plug adapter. If you plan on taking an international trip across the pond anytime soon, make sure you invest in the plug adapter. The adapter allows you to use your regular plug in foreign outlets. I learned this lesson the hard way on my trip to Portugal!

4.     Cute luggage set. What girl doesn’t love a cute luggage set. Not only is it the perfect photo prop, but when it comes to baggage claim, your set will be easy to identify. I have been rolling with my Rockland set for the past 5 years. Do you think it’s time for a new one?

5.     Packing cubes. I’ve never personally use packing cubes, but I heard they were amazing. Not only do they help you maximize your space, but they keep you organized.

6.     Headphones. Whether you want to watch an in-flight movie or listen to your favorite songs, don’t leave home without them. Some airlines offer headphones for an additional charge.

7.     Neck pillow. These things are heaven sent! Waking up with a crook in your neck after that wonderful airplane nap is no fun. I was able to grab one from a store called Cititrends, but Five Below always has them in stock!

8.     USB charger. No one wants to have a dead phone on a long trip. Personally, I like to play games on my flight and even though I’m on Airplane mode, the battery runs down. Likely some planes have added USB ports to let you charge your phone in flight.

9.     Digital Camera. What good is going on a trip if you can’t capture the memories. I’m a certified smartphone photographer, but if you want to upgrade a bit, the Nikon 3500 is a great starter camera!

10.  Toiletry bag. Toothpaste, deodorant, body wash, makeup, etc…you need somewhere to store all of your goodies. They range in size, but I love the hanging toiletry bags.
